not to be insulting to the vultures since they do a good service for the environment, they take care of all the dead crap lying around! As for the oil companies they seem to be best at leaving crap lying around. Both pick at the bones of poor unfortunate creatures. the country is already wounded, hanging on to our economy by a thread. this week the eastern part of our country has been hit by a major earthquake and now faces the devastation of a major hurricane severe enough to call for the evacuation of the New York City and five buroughs coastline and now the gas prices are up from 30 cents over night again. I don't care if the price per barrel of oil jumped or not. In a time of crisis, gas prices should not be raised for any reason! since oil companies seem to be incapable of any sensitivity to the peoples need in the time of crisis, I think some sort of legislation is needed. Right now the way jobs are leaving the country or just folding, it doesn't matter if pensions are invested into the oil companies, if you lose your job or your pension is cancelled before you can collect it. Stop excepting what you are told by these people, demand some sort of accountability thru legislation because the oil companies will not do it themselves. there is no shortage of oil. just build more refineries means more jobs to boost the economy. and it will lower gas prices...

UNPATRIOTIC!!!
So I was on my way to work when I saw that gas prices had shot up from $3.24 per gallon to $3.69 a gallon! My first thought was why, then I remembered that it's the last day of June. It has nothing to do with the last day of June really, but everything to do with the first of July, and Friday, being tomorrow leading into a long, holiday weekend.
The 4th of July, our nation's Independence Day, is Monday and the oil companies are sticking it too us again because they know they can. They know that all of us want to be out and about taking advantage of the long weekend and celebrating the 4th. They know we'll all need to fill up this weekend before we head out, so they ordered their stores to raise prices .45c per gallon. They call it supply and demand, I call it UNPATRIOTIC!! It's HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! There is absolutely no excuse for it at all. It's a just plain rotten thing to do!
My wife and I were invited to go to a concert with friends in Lexington Saturday, but going is out of the question now. We can't afford the gas.
I work and make decent money, but we're far from rich. I already have to work overtime every week just to make up for the increases at the pump and still end with nothing left over to take care of other needs, like car repairs. We've cut every expense possible and still gas prices suck up every extra cent I earn and then some. Some months we have to dip into what's left of our tax returns to make sure everything gets paid. We don't have cable and we never go out anymore. If we're lucky, I can hit the red box for a video or two once a month and every time gas goes up, it's one less thing we can buy at the grocery store and the videos get cut. How is the economy supposed to recover if we can't even put money into the red box because it has to go into the gas tank instead?
We're not the only ones in this country who's finances stay so close to the wire. Like I said, I make decent money, but it's not enough for this. This is a time when we should be able to celebrate, pump some money back into the economy and be thankful that we're Americans and remember the sacrifices made to create this country and keep it. Instead, we will be at home because the only money we can pump anywhere is into the gas tank of my tiny, 4cylinder, nine-year-old Pontiac. That sucks!
The bottom line is, the oil companies don't care about us, or the USA, just themselves! And that's UNPATRIOTIC!!!
Happy Birthday anyway, America!!

speculations about oil speculators!
Here is something to consider? Why is it we are always getting the short end of the stick when it comes to gas prices? Speculators make predictions about how high the price of a barrel of oil which is a self fulfilling prophecy. These predictions benefit them financially by crippling us, the average working class Joe's, and the poor, the elderly and those who can't fend for themselves. Why hasn't there been an investigation until now? Who are we supposed to turn to for help? Who is to blame for the economic crisis that is sure to return if prices at the pump don't go down? Our representatives are supposed to be our voice, but it seems they would rather keep their mouths shut and pad their wallets with our tax dollars than actually do something to help us.
Now I hear on the CBS News that Al Quida had plans to sink oil tankers to drive up the price of oil. They abandoned that plan, but why? I think maybe they found a better way to ruin the world economy...Through oil speculation. That's my theory anyway. Think about it people. The prices of oil and gas were a big part of the recent economic crash, even though it seems everyone wants to blame housing. But the truth is, prices began to rise and people began to lose their jobs long before the housing market crashed. The cost to employers to do business was rising due to high gas prices. When people stopped buying because they couldn't afford the higher prices for goods and gas, businesses turned to the banks to keep them afloat. But the banks refused to lend them any more money to pay their expenses and layoffs and closures were inevitable. Businesses that go under can't pay their creditors and people who don't have jobs can't make house payments, especially if they're going up. And so the banks crashed.
And why is it that gas prices go up like a rocket when oil prices rise, but to quote one guy on the news "fall like a feather" when the price of oil goes down? It's because the oil companies don't pass on the price reduction to us. They deliberately hold the price up as long as they can by charging their gas stations more than they should so they have to keep the prices high. Mo money, mo money, mo money all to the greedy oil companies at our expense...literally.
I for one am sick of all of it and I know you all are too. Wake up, America! Demand an investigation into oil speculators and demand fair value at the pumps!
